Objectives: 

  1. Recognize professional medical organizations responsible for establishing standards of care in gender-affirming care
  2. Identify three distinct stages of gender-affirming care in minors
  3. Recognize the impact of political interference in gender-affirming care on the spiritual and emotional health of minors


Description: With legislation introduced to contest gender-affirming care in more than 20 U.S. states, this course engages with public discourse about gender-affirming care with minors. We will clarify the What of gender-affirming care at different ages and explore who decides what is appropriate care.

A review of resources on relevant legislative, executive, and judicial actions is also included as a way to orient participants to some of the tactics and conversations being advanced today.
